I'm an auntie!

Friday morning at 8:45am and 8:46am I officially became an auntie for the first time!!! I'm so excited. My SIL had twins, boy and girl. They are simply precious and beautiful. As of last night, the parents are still not 100% sure on the names. 99.9%, but not 100%. They just haven't had the time to really talk about it. They've barely had any sleep and doctors and nurses and constantly coming in to check on them day and night.

But here are some photos I took Friday night when I went down to see them. So precious!

Mesmeralda

My latest and greatest page! I'm thinking of doing a book at shutterfly. I might take the photo out of this one and place a Halloween Spectacular title on it instead and use it for the cover of the book.

hot pad

I had off today so I was finally able to finish a project I've been working on. My boss was trying a new craft called Locker hooking. And it looked really easy. I can handle easy. So I picked up some fabric, string, mesh and needle to went to work. I think it turned out kind of cool. I like the look of it. I see a lot of rugs like this style. But I need to find a stand or holder that would work while doing this. It kind of gets a little awkward holding it and trying to work the fabric. I used a busy pattern fabric on this, but I think solids might work better. You can't see any patterns, just the colors. I'm going to find some solid pink & brown to match and see if I can blend the 3 together on the next one.

Haunted Corn Maze

Just wanted to post a fun picture I took of my friend Leah from a couple of weeks ago when we went to the haunted corn maze. The place had this little stage area set up with the clowns from some scary movie I can't remember, and Leah is always up for a fun photo opp!

the night sky

This is what was the night sky last night. Just B-E-A-UTIFUL! The photo does not do it justice. I just wish I knew how to post process in CS3 better to achieve the look of what I saw.

been too long

I'm such a bad blogger....

It's been almost 2 weeks now that we've had our new little puppy. Pictures are STILL on my camera. I just haven't had that much time to do anything except follow her around to stop her from having accidents on the floor, or chewing the legs of our dinning room table (that made me cry), and trying to keep her separated from Zona (more on that later). I do have lots of really cute photos I need to post. I promise to do that this weekend...I hope.

But one of the things on my list that I've wanted to do was play around with some textures I found online. I found some really cool freebie ones here. LOVE THESE!! :)

And here is one of my many iris photos from this summer.

Baby shower

Left early b/c I wasn't feeling well. Actually, that's not true. But I
can't say the real reason why I left. My mom always said if you can't
say anything nice, don't say anything at all. Blah.

trying to go Green

There is so much that I want to do, or "try" to do, to be a much earth friendlier person. I found these really cute reuseable bags online from Bright And Bold. I ordered them yesterday morning and they came in the mail today! Holy Cow! that was FAST! So since they came today I was so excited to use them grocery shopping today. I waited for hubby and his nephew, Jared, to come back home b/c they wanted to go with. So they came home and we left right away. We get to the store, I grab a cart and preceded to walk into the store when I realized I forgot the bags!! :( Hubby just laughed. I wanted him to go back and get them for me, but he wouldn't. They really are cute. I bought 2 sets, the pink

and the green.

And they're big bags too! These would make great gifts too. hmmm...great Christmas gift!! :D ooooh! Look at that! It's September and I've just begun my Christmas shopping!!!! :D

diapers

I was on a sewing kick after I was done making the quilt that I went to the store and bought cloth diapers and a bunch of ribbon and made burp rags for the babies!

I just hope my SIL will appreciate the home made goodies I made. I guess I'll know tomorrow at the shower when she opens up the gifts.

__________

Well DH is finally back home with his nephew. They ended up coming back in a day early. So now we have his 20 year old nephew living with us. I think he's going to like living in Wisconsin vs. North Dakota. (ok, maybe that's just me!! lol)

back home

It's good to be back home. The trip was fun. Didn't have very good cell phone signal, so I couldn't update with my iPhone. I guess ND is too rural for their cell service.

We did a LOT of 4-wheeling. Man, that was FUN! I practically grew up on an ATV, and I've really missed riding them. One of the downfalls about living in town, you can't walk out your door hop on and go. My mom even went out riding with us. I think she secretly misses them too! :)

When I got home, we had an email from the breeder with a photo of Reign. This picture is just too cute!

I sat down all day yesterday and made my very first quilt.

I can't believe I actually made this thing!! I really am proud of myself for sticking with it and finishing. (I am your typical Gemini that likes to start new things, gets bored, and never finishes it. I have LOTS of unfinished projects laying around my house. That's the one trait I would love to change about myself. I try...then get bored and stop! LOL!) This is a small baby quilt I made for my SIL's baby shower this Saturday. Talk about last minute, eh? I also have to run to the store tonight and pick up some cloth diapers. I have some brightly-colored ribbon I'm going to sew down the sides so they can be used as burp rags. I saw the idea online a while ago and thought that would be something easy that even I could do.

Mall = Fun

We made it to the Mall of America yesterday and walked all 3 floors. This mall is truley amazing. What other mall in the US can you go to that has this in it???

And check out Lego Land!!

When we got to our hotel and pulled into the parking lot, we saw the CNN bus that was here this week for the Republican Convention.

North Dakota

Nothing exciting happened today. Just been busy doing last minute packing for our little get away. We are going to North Dakota. Why, you ask? Well because hubby is from there and we're going to celebrate his parents 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday. Looking forward to seeing all his old friends and family that we hardly get to see. My mom's going with too. Unfortunately, my dad had to stay behind b/c of work. bleh. He was bummed that he couldn't go with.

But we're leaving bright and early tomorrow morning and stopping in Minneapolis to chill out at Mall of America for the night and then leave Saturday morning to finish the 2nd half of our 11 hour drive. I am excited about going shopping tomorrow afternoon at the mall. One store I will be stopping at is Archivers. LOVE that store. I was at the store in Madison a lot last year when I lived there. Such a nice layout to that store. And they had EVERYTHING!! :D

I will do my best to try and post during my trip, but I don't think I'll be able to get my data service on my iPhone in ND. So I won't be able to go online. :(

peace out~

Reign over me

here are 2 photos I have that I took of Reign. We've only seen here twice, about 3 weeks apart. I was too busy playing with her the 2nd time that I really didn't think about getting photos.

This one she is only a day old.

This one she is about 3 weeks old.

90210

Ok, so I didn't want to watch it, but I did. AND I think I'm hooked. sigh. It's soo cheesy, but I just couldn't stop watching it. I think it was because of Shenae Grimes. She just came across very sincere and just really down to earth. So I set my TiVo to record the season. We'll see how it goes.

Happy September 1st!

I'm going to try do be more active with my blogging this month. I'm going to challenge myself to blog everyday during the month of September. So here's to a month of rambling!! :D
__________

This weekend was the big 105th anniversary celebration of Harley Davidson in Milwaukee. I live about 45 minutes north of downtown Milwaukee and let me tell ya, the rumbling was going loud and strong ALL weekend!! There were several bands playing all weekend in my town too. Lynyrd Skynyrd was playing at our fair ground last Wednesday. I must have been hiding under a rock lately b/c I didn't even know he was in town until after the event.

My friend Leah reunited with the band, The Indispensable Hiptones, that she used to play in and played downtown MKE yesterday. Her plan was to wear her leather vest and her jeans and leather chaps. It was very warm out this weekend and she said she just couldn't do the chaps. She was a little sad b/c she really wanted to wear them up on stage.
__________

Let me just say that I really love my little iPhone. Like today. I'm at home and hubby went to the store to get a curtain for the window downstairs (yes, you read that right. HE wanted to go to the store to get one (shaking my head)), and he calls be b/c their are 2 different ones and he didn't know which to get. He tried to explain them both to me and finally he said let me just snap a picture and send it to you. So he took the photo, emailed it to me and then my phone went buzzz meaning I had a new email. So I said hold on, let me look. Then proceeded to pull up the email he sent me on my iPhone. I know this may sound silly, but if you think about how far technology has come in the past couples of years, this really is awesome!! :D Thou, depending on where you are at the moment your using your phone, it may take longer than you wish to even get your email. BUT.....I just know within the next few years that will all change.
__________

ok, I think this is it for now. I'm getting tired. And plus I need to save stuff for tomorrow.

peace out~

it's been awhile

This summer has gone by so fast and I haven't even accomplished anything. I had so much that I wanted to do this summer but all I remember doing is work. blah. I am NOT going to be the type of person who lives for work. I need to slow down and smell the flowers along the way. Like this weekend, I had planed on doing a in depth "spring" cleaning. We've been remodeling our downstairs by adding an additional bedroom/guest room. Now that's it's finally done, there is that fine layer of dust over everything and it's driving me NUT-O! So I gathered up all my blankets in the house b/c I was going to take them all to the laundry mat to wash them all at once, and once I stepped out side to load them in the back of my truck, I realized how humid and sticky it was outside. blah. And b/c I'm your typical Gemini, once I got back into the house I got sidetracked and started doing other stuff. Then I landed on the mac checking my google-reader I've been behind on, only to find out my internet connection was acting wacko. So I braved the phone call to those lovely repair people and finally got everything back, and next thing I know it's starting to get dark out. WTF! Wasn't it just 9am??? Did I just fall into some sort of time-warp? So needless to say, I didn't accomplish anything yesterday and that's how my whole summer has been. And as I'm sitting here in my scrapbook room/empty space to store stuff b/c I don't know where to put it/office with paper work all over the floor, I'm realizing I need to get off my bum and clean & organize this mess I call my life. But I sit and look at everything feeling so overwhelmed b/c I don't know where to start or how to start. "Calgon, take me away!!!" Oh! And I've got the TV on in the background with the food network on. One word....gelato...yummy!! :D

I did finally get my new camera I've wanted. Woohoo! It's so pretty and so much lighter than my old one. Wow! I couldn't believe that. I've already done my first little non-pro photo shoot with my SIL and her dogs. She really wanted to get some of Chance with her. Chance had a huge tumor removed a month ago and found out it was a really bad form of cancer (not that there is a good form of cancer) and she pasted away last weekend. She was just the sweetest dog ever. Such a good mom she was to her pups too. Here are a few that I took that I really love.

In a couple of weeks we'll be the proud owners of a baby Great Dane puppy. So excited! We've seen here twice and she is just the cutest little thing. I can't wait to bring her home. I just know Zona's going to be happy having a sister to play with now. Since Zona's real name is Raising Arizona, we've wanted to stay with movie titles for names. So DH came up with Reign Over Me and call her Reign. I LOVE it! So when we meet with the breeder last monday, we told her to start calling her Reign. I would post a picture, but that would mean I have to unload them from my little P&S camera in my purse. Oh, all right. I'll try to post some photos of here later today. I really do have to tackle this mess in here and the mess in our house before our nephew moves down here in a couple of weeks.

Later~

Music Man

I'm playing again!! Woohoo!! A couple of weeks ago, my friend has asked me to play in the pit for the musical, Music Man. I couldn't say no. I LOVE playing in musicals. So much FUN! And this years show marks the 20th anniversary for the Hartford players. It was an honor to be a part of this production. All last week we had rehearsal every night and then opening night on Friday. OMG! We were a HIT! The feedback from the audience during the show just made everyone's adrenaline soar. Did I say yet how much I just LOVE playing in musicals? :D lol!!

Birthday Celebration

This years birthday for me came and went. We really didn't do anything special for it. My mom asked if I wanted to go out for dinner and I said, no, I'd rather just not do anything this year. Well my friend Leah said that she wanted to take me for dinner. I've been putting it off b/c I just didn't want to celebrate me getting older. ich. So finally she convinced me to go out Friday night and I did. I am SO glad I did too. Holy FUN! I haven't laughed that hard in a really long time. Leah drove and on the way downtown, she had the sunroof open and I looked up and saw this.

The sky was so blue. :)
Leah took me to a restaurant called Kil@wat that is located inside the InterContinental Hotel downtown Milwaukee.

We started off with the Wisconsin cheese fondue. YUMMY!!

Then I had the American grouper

and Leah had Grandma's chicken

Leah said her dinner was good, and mine was just ok. I'm sorry to say, but the beans tasted just like plain baked beans. Not the best mix of taste for me. Afterwards, we went to At Random.

This place is your 1950's cheesy cocktail lounge that serves the BEST ice cream drinks. I've never been there before but Leah talks about it sooo much. When I walked in, it was soooo dark and that the only lights were from these orange lanterns lit at each table. It's just like what Hernando's Hideaway would be from the musical, Pajama Game. :) I had a grasshopper and Leah had a Peanut Butter Cup. So good. Here are some photos I tried to take so you can see just how dark and orange it was in there. She even said I had to check out the bathroom too. (heehee)

We didn't stay too long b/c it was starting to get a little to smoky in there for me. But what a FUN night! Thanks Leah!!

Rice Krispies Treats

Darnell has been bugging me a LOT lately to make him some rice krispies treats. So when I was at the store to get the cereal, I saw the box of Fruity Pebbles and thought it would be fun to try something different. Well, I'll just say that they're just ok. Good, but I think I like the plain rice krispies better. I was checking out the Kellogg's site and they have several different kinds that you can make. But I think when it comes down to it, I would but much happier with the origianl. I guess I'm just a plain-jane type of a person. :D

wedding

I have a HUGE pile of old scrapbooking mags that I just can't seam to toss. So I was going through them and ran across a LO by Donna Downey in the July/Aug 2007 issue of Simple Scrapbooks and I just had to do this one.

Leah

Here are some photos I took Friday of my friend, Leah. She is a Music teacher at the HS and graduation was Friday night. She didn't have any pictures of her in her gown and hood and asked if I would take some. I played around with some freebie PS actions I got from Totally Rad. I really liked how they turned out. I think I just might invest in some of their actions. I also tried a grunge look with a frame and scratch overlay from Keep Designing. Fun!
